Unique Features and Benefits of the Wells Fargo Credit Card

Wells Fargo is a national bank founded in 1852. One of Wells Fargo’s many 9 product offerings is credit cards. Just because Wells Fargo is a large national bank doesn’t mean that they don’t; it doesn’t mean that they don’t offer unique benefits to their credit card holders.

The bank has quite a few useful credit card features that may make you want to consider signing up for a credit card account.

That said, you should keep in mind that while these features exist on at least one Wells Fargo credit card, they do not exist on every Wells Fargo credit card. If one of these benefits is particularly important to you, be sure to verify that the credit card you are considering applying for offers the specific benefit before you apply.

1. My expense report

The My Spending Report feature allows you to track your spending, income, deposits, payments, and withdrawals so you can better understand how your finances are performing based on the activity in your Wells Fargo accounts.

It helps you get an overview of your finances so you can figure out where you need to make adjustments. The tool provides interactive charts and graphs to help you stay on budget as well.

2. Budget Watch

The Budget Watch feature lets you dig deeper into your spending than the My Spending Report. You can set up a budget online and compare your spending from your Wells Fargo accounts to that budget.

The report is updated every business day, so you’ll receive frequent updates to help you stay on budget.

3. Early Access

The Wells Fargo Propel American Express card offers early access to concert, theater and special event tickets before they go on sale to the public through American Express Presales.

These tickets are available to all American Express cardholders and must be purchased with an American Express card. While you can get tickets in advance, not all seats are available and blackout dates may apply.

4. Go Far Rewards offers multiple redemption options

Some Wells Fargo credit cards allow you to earn Go Far Rewards. After you earn enough rewards, you can redeem them for cash, gift cards, merchandise, digital downloads, and online auctions for items like tickets to hot concerts, major sporting events, merchandise, or vacations.

Plus, you can use points to book travel, including flights, cruises, luxury vacations and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. If you’d prefer to use your rewards to pay down debt, you can redeem them for credit toward eligible Wells Fargo loans, but you’ll still need to make your regularly scheduled payments.

5. A card offers higher redemption rates for airfare

The Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card offers 50 percent more value for your points when redeemed for airfare.

You must redeem your points to purchase flights through Go Far Rewards to qualify for this bonus. Even though this is a bit of an inconvenience, you can turn 20,000 points into a $300 flight.

6. Share rewards

If you’re feeling generous, you can share your Go Far Rewards points with others in a few ways.

You can gift them to friends and family who also have a Go Far Rewards account. Another option is to pool rewards with others. This way, a group of people can save up enough rewards to pay for a large item like a wedding gift for a special couple.

Finally, you can donate your Go Far Rewards points to causes and organizations important to you, like the American Red Cross.

7. Automatic cash-back redemptions

The Wells Fargo Cash Back College Card offers the ability to have the cash back you earn automatically deposited into your Wells Fargo savings account.

This feature is activated once you have $25 cash available. This can ensure you never forget to redeem your rewards.

8. Cell phone protection

The Cell Phone Protection feature offers up to $600 of cell phone protection for damage and theft, but not for phones that are lost.

To qualify, you must pay your monthly cell phone bill with your eligible Wells Fargo card and pay a $25 deductible. You can make up to two claims per 12-month period with a limit of $600 per claim.

9. Free FICO Score with Wells Fargo Online

As a Wells Fargo customer, you will get access to your FICO credit score for free. To qualify for this, you must be the primary account holder on a qualifying account and be enrolled in Wells Fargo online banking.

10. Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver

Your Wells Fargo card may offer auto rental collision damage waiver coverage when you rent a car. The feature will vary depending on whether your particular Wells Fargo card is issued by Visa or American Express, so check your benefits guide to see how this feature works with your particular card.

Please note that there are usually limitations on this coverage. Regardless of which issuer issues your card, it may save you money by purchasing potentially unnecessary car rental insurance coverage that you may already have with your Wells Fargo card.

11. Roadside dispatch

Your eligible Wells Fargo Visa Card offers a roadside assistance program that includes standard towing up to five miles, tire change, jump start, lockout service (but no key replacement), fuel delivery up to five gallons plus the cost of fuel, and standard winching.

Currently, the fee is $69.95 per service call, not including the additional costs mentioned above. There are other limitations and possible fees noted in your benefits guide.

12. Travel services and emergency assistance

Eligible Wells Fargo Visa cards offer travel and emergency assistance services to connect you with local emergency and assistance services, including:

  • Emergency messaging service.
  • Medical referral assistance.
  • Legal reference assistance.
  • Emergency transportation assistance.
  • Emergency ticket replacement.
  • Lost luggage location service.
  • Emergency translation services.
  • Prescription assistance and valuable document delivery arrangements.
  • Pre-trip assistance.

While you will be connected with services that can help you, any charges incurred for the services are typically your responsibility.

13. Travel accident insurance

You may be covered by a $1,000,000 worldwide automatic travel accident insurance policy (airlines are a common example) if you put your common carrier ticket purchase on an eligible Wells Fargo Visa credit card. The details of the policy are complex, so check your benefits guide for details.

14. Refund for lost luggage

Lost baggage reimbursement can pay you the difference between what the common carrier pays you for your lost baggage and the value of the claimed amount. This coverage will pay up to $3,000 per covered trip or $2,000 per covered trip if you are a New York resident.

To be covered, your common carrier tickets must be paid for with your eligible Wells Fargo Visa card. For more details on how this benefit works, please see the benefits guide for your eligible card.
