Latham & Watkins, White & Case top 2024 MEA M&A legal advisory rankings

Latham & Watkins and White & Case have topped the charts as legal advisers for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) for 2024, in terms of value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData.

GlobalData’s Deals Database analysis revealed that Latham & Watkins secured the top spot by value, advising on deals worth $11.1bn.

White & Case, meanwhile, led by volume, handling 14 transactions.

GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said: “Latham & Watkins surpassed $10bn in total deal value in 2024. It registered more than a double-fold jump in the total value of deals advised by it in 2024 compared to 2023. Resultantly, it went ahead from occupying the third position by value in 2023 to top the chart by this metric in 2024. Apart from leading by value, it also occupied the seventh position by volume in 2024.

“Meanwhile, White & Case was the top adviser by volume in 2023 and managed to retain its leadership position by this metric in 2024 as well. It was among the only three advisers with double-digit deal volume during 2024.”

Allen & Overy ranked second in deal value with $9.2bn, followed by Blake Cassels & Graydon at $8.7bn. Bernitsas Law and Simmons & Simmons jointly held the fourth spot, each advising on $2.4bn worth of deals.
